Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care Services, the Program Director, Laboratory Medicine and Genetics (LMG), is responsible for the overall operations and service delivery of the LMG program, a high-functioning, multi-site, regional program servicing the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network. The Program Director’s portfolio includes a comprehensive suite of laboratory medicine services and a regional genetics program. Working in close partnership with the Chief & Medical Director, the Program Director oversees approximately 400 professionals across all three THP sites, with a total annual budget of approximately $46 million. In this strategic and operational role, the Program Director will ensure an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care by actively promoting and continuing to advance best practices and high quality services, both within and outside of the hospital, in order to deliver improved quality, access and sustainability.
Key leadership priorities for the Program Director will be to:
- Lead the ongoing integration of people, processes and systems across all sites to deliver maximum levels of responsiveness and quality to patients.
- Develop and nurture strategic alliances and regional partnerships with various industry partners and stakeholders, striving towards seamless integrated care, program excellence and system innovation.
- Through continued process improvement and team building, strengthen collaboration and connectivity across teams, clinical programs and with partner hospitals.
- Promote creative thought leadership to support a business operating model that drives efficiency and effectiveness, and enhances revenue generating initiatives.
The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience, be a visionary and accomplished leader with a passion and track record for achieving sustainable results, embracing ambiguity and developing people in a similarly complex environment. With a track record for creating a quality and safety culture and working with a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders, the new Program Director will also bring a strong business acumen and a focus on achieving performance targets that focus on effectiveness and measureable outcomes. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in managing clinical laboratory services in an acute care hospital.
