After several years of leading a tier one laboratory services or healthcare organization, you have formulated a vision of what an ideal lab could be and should be.  Here is a once-in-a-lifetime window of opportunity to realize that vision.  In this best case scenario, you will lead a start up that has both clients and employees in place and is looking to you for strategic direction, structure and galvanizing leadership.  As President & C.E.O. of Alberta’s new provincial laboratory organization, you will take the best practices of three organizations and unite them into Canada’s largest integrated laboratory services provider.  Wholly owned by Alberta Health Services, but governed by its own Board of Directors, the provincial laboratory requires a visionary and a builder who believes in the power of diagnostics to transform healthcare.

A start-up of this scale will present layers of complexity, but the ultimate reward will be a lab system that leads the world in client service, efficiency and research.   You’ll encourage a culture that fully engages your 6,000 employees and isn’t shy about aiming for ‘best lab services organization in the world’.  Working with your Board, your senior team and provincial healthcare stakeholders, you will author a plan that incorporates a new laboratory hub in Edmonton, implementation of an integrated lab information system and a dramatic increase in revenue-producing research and consulting projects.  In a dyad leadership model, you will support both clinical and administrative excellence.  Given the profile of the President & C.E.O. role, you will welcome ongoing opportunities to gather feedback from clients, partners, governments and communities and act as the lab’s most visible champion.
