Manager, Emergency Department and Surgical Services
Permanent, Full-Time

The Arnprior & District Memorial Hospital and the Grove Nursing Home are located in the Town of Arnprior, less than 30 minutes northwest of Ottawa. There are approximately 380 staff, 200 volunteers, and a growing number of medical staff providing exemplary care to over 30,000 residents of West Ottawa, McNab/Braeside, Arnprior and portions of Mississippi Mills.  

We currently have an opportunity available for a Full Time Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department and Surgical Services.  This position, which reports to the Vice President of Patient & Resident Services, will provide managerial and clinical leadership in the departments and will establish collaborative working relationships throughout the organization. As a manager, this incumbent will provide 24-hour accountability for coordinating quality patient care and positive patient experience; promoting and maintaining a professional nursing practice environment; facilitating staff in continuous quality improvement/risk management activities and is a key member in leading and directing hospital projects, committees and programs.

As an experienced leader in the nursing field, you will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of managerial experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in Emergency nursing and/or Surgical Services within a hospital setting
  • Experience in managing in a unionized environment essential
  • RN in good standing with the CNO and a BScN required 
  • Masters Degree in a related field considered an asset
  • Current member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario
  • Certified in Canadian Medical Device Reprocessing or willing and committed to become certified within the first 6 months of employment
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills, sound knowledge and understanding of hospital policies and procedures, relevant legislation, collective agreements, CNO Standards of Nursing Practice and clinical nursing bet practices.
  • Sound knowledge of and ability to demonstrate evidence-based leadership practices
  • Demonstrated management skills (i.e., accounting, business strategy, project management, communications, human resources, staffing and managing rotations, performance management and evaluation, etc.)
  • Experience leading a clinical team through the Accreditation Canada survey process
  • Ability to work under pressure and on concurrent projects; Sound organizational and multitasking skills to prioritize tasks and manage workload
