The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group is currently recruiting for a
Manager, Patient Care Services for our Operational Stress Injury
(OSI) Clinic


As one of Canada’s foremost mental health care and academic health sciences centres, The Royal has a clear purpose: to get more people living with mental illness into recovery faster. Everyday, the work that we do transforms the lives of people with mental illness through specialized mental healthcare, advocacy, research and education. Looking towards the future of mental health care, The Royal is focused on delivering faster access to better treatment. A key element of this is community-based services. Our vision for The Royal is a hospital without walls – a future in which mental health care meets people where they are, working in harmony with other aspects of health and community. A significant program within this is the Community Mental Health Program (CMHP).

Reporting to the Director, Patient Care Services, the Manager, Patient Care Services (MPCS) provides front line professional and administrative leadership in the OSI Clinic. The MPCS is accountable for the quality of service clients receive and for monitoring and maintaining appropriate standards of an interdisciplinary professional team in accordance with established standards of practice, operating standards and ROHCG policies.

This position operates in an environment that is frequently subject to change due to the need to balance demands within The Royal and our funder, Veterans Affairs Canada. In light of this, the position is required to consult, plan, and collaborate with a variety of leaders and individuals within and outside of the organization.

  • Complete annual performance reviews and initiate corrective plans as necessary.

  • Collaborate and communicate clearly with the Clinical Director, DPCS and team in the achievement of strategic goals, objectives, recruitment, labour relations and evaluation.

  • Participate in development and delivery of educational and informational programs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Baccalaureate degree in appropriate health discipline with evidence of continuing education/learning.
  • Current Registration with applicable regulatory College
  • Demonstrated leadership in planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation; proposal development; labour relations; and budgeting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ clinical experience.
  • Minimum of two years management experience.
  • Experience having worked in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience in coaching, training, performance management, recruitment and leadership, including experience within a unionized work environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislated acts (e.g. Mental Health Act, Public Hospitals Act, SDA, etc.)
  • Proven leadership background and a strong practical and theoretical understanding of team building methodology, empowerment theories, leading change and coaching principles.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) level A- is considered an asset.
