Awarded the Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada with 99.8% compliance in 2019, Windsor Regional Hospital is delivering a progressive and modernized healthcare experience. WRH is the 11th largest hospital in Ontario, and the 3rd largest community teaching hospital in the province, serving a population of about 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County along with providing tertiary and quaternary care to thousands more. With more than 3,700 staff members, 515 professional staff members and 890 volunteers, the hospital is responsible for all acute care services in Windsor and currently operates out of two campuses – the Met Campus and the Ouellette Campus. In 2013, Windsor Regional Hospital and its partners at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare initiated a “system-wide hospital plan” for Windsor-Essex that will include a new state-of-the-art acute care hospital to serve the region for decades to come. WRH is seeking a passionate, dedicated, innovative Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive (COO & CNE) to drive excellence in healthcare for the patients and families that they serve.

Reporting to the President & CEO, and with accountability to the Board of Directors, the COO & CNE is responsible for the overall leadership of all clinical programs and ensuring the smooth, efficient, safe, and effective delivery of care within the hospital. The COO & CNE has a broad portfolio which includes critical care, emergency services, surgery, cardiology, regional stroke & trauma services, mental health, medicine, patient flow, clinical support services, family services, organizational effectiveness, and learning and workplace development. The COO & CNE will provide strategic leadership to the clinical Vice Presidents and Acute Care Directors to support and guide front-line leadership and staff to deliver outstanding care. Championing optimization and standardization, the COO & CNE will drive continuous quality improvement initiatives and enhanced patient experience. The COO & CNE will embody the values of CARE - ‘compassion, accountable, respectful, and exceptional’ - and foster a culture of trust and respect across the organization. 

As the ideal candidate, you bring a BScN, coupled with a Masters Degree in Nursing or related clinical or business credentials. You are a seasoned healthcare administrator with a track record of 15+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience. Passionate, committed, and dedicated, you are known for implementing best practice in health service delivery and bring experience from an academic research and teaching environment. A strong communicator, you work well in complex, multi-site, acute care environments. You have a vision for transformed healthcare and the courage, curiosity, and intellect to identify and implement bold solutions to complex problems.
