Chief Clinical Information Officer
Vancouver, BC
Salary: $144,576 to $216,865/year

The Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), is a member of the Information Management / Information Technology Services (IMITS) executive leadership team (ELT). As a vital member of ELT, this newly created role is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, information management and clinically focused informatics solutions. Working in partnership across the British Columbia health authorities and entities, the CCIO is responsible for informatics, Health Information Management, clinical application data and analytics. This role also develops and implements data strategy and standards to ensure the delivery of best practice clinical care. This position plays a key role in the Clinical Systems Transformation (CST) initiative across the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Healthcare (PHC).

In addition to ensuring the advancement of strategic innovation and driving the data strategy to develop and implement standards, this role serves as an advocate for the physician and clinical community, promoting the use of information technology to assist in the delivery of patient care while supporting quality improvement and research efforts. The CCIO will cultivate strategic partnerships, foster collaboration with senior stakeholders and monitor changes and trends in information management and information systems ensuring that PHSA achieves optimal, innovative and cost-effective use of available technologies. Expert relationship building and communications skills are required for the development of senior policy, strategic development and complex negotiations.

This opportunity calls for a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in a related field or a PhD. in Medicine, Biology, or other related field, plus a minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a practicing clinician combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in direct clinical systems and process re-design. You are fully capable of broad systems thinking and conceptualizing critical issues spanning organizational needs. With a demonstrated passion for Clinical Informatics, you have an appreciation for business and systems architecture, data integrity, data quality, core information and data standards and their applicability to clinical systems architecture and design. With your background you will have well-developed experience working in a broad stakeholder environment with a proven ability to innovate and guide change, as well as facilitate collaboration within a complex patient-focused system.
