Dr. Gigi Osler

F. Gigi Osler, BSc (Med), MD, FRCSC

Dr. Osler is an Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgeon from Winnipeg and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Manitoba. She is Chair of the Canadian Medical Forum which brings together leaders of Canada’s major national medical organizations to strategize on priority health care issues. She co-chairs the Virtual Care Task Force, a joint collaboration between the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

In 2018, Dr. Osler became the first female surgeon and the first woman of color to be elected as President of the CMA - the national medical association representing medical students, residents and physicians across Canada. In recognition of this challenging national leadership role, she was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network in 2019. The CMA also recognized her inspiring leadership and named her a 2019 Physician Changemaker. In 2020, the University of Manitoba recognized her with a Distinguished Alumni Award.

She is a dedicated advocate for leadership, equity and diversity, physician wellness, global health, and virtual care.
