British Columbia Director
Paul Gallant is an innovative, resourceful, relationship-centred, health care leader who brings 36 years of cross-sectorial and coast-to-coast experience. Paul is Principal, GALLANT HEALTHWORKS & Associates, his consultancy based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. He provides strategic planning, project leadership, policy, mentorship and research support to clients including: health authorities, First Nations, communities, not for profits, research organizations and professional associations. His career includes: clinical practice, operations leadership, community development, senior leadership, strategic planning, business development, information management and technology consulting, mixed-methods research, public speaking, entrepreneurship, and post-secondary teaching.
Paul was elected to the Board in June, 2018. In the past 10 years he has served the Canadian College of Health Leaders in various executive positions on the B.C. Lower Mainland Chapter, including Chair. He is Guest Editor of the College’s peer-reviewed journal, Healthcare Management FORUM, Indigenous Health Issue for publication January 2019. He chairs numerous college education sessions and partnered events including the IoT Big Data Healthcare, Western Canada Summits. Paul was awarded the Chapter Award for Distinguished Service in 2014. He holds numerous other awards including those for: community service, professional practice, academic achievement and research.
Paul has served in governance roles on several provincial organizations including professional associations and not-for profit, seniors service and mental health agencies. He served as President British Columbia (BC) Therapeutic Recreation Association, President BC Pets and Friends and Vice-president Journil Solutions Ltd. (a health technology start-up).
Paul holds a Master’s Degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia focused on seniors’ wellness after hospitalization, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy, Dalhousie University. Paul is a lifelong learner and has extensive other graduate training through an MBA program, and his PhD Kinesiology studies in programs focused on community engagement and access to health care for males with eating disorders.
Paul has extensive networks, is frequently translating knowledge and creating opportunities for team dialogue and multi-stakeholder action through a variety of people and technology channels, including: conference moderation, partnerships and effective use of social media.
