A COVID-19 pandemic update from our CEO

Over the past several weeks, CCHL has worked actively to adapt to our new reality and to respond accordingly. First, I’d like to thank, on behalf of our Board of Directors, our members and our staff, all the dedicated College members, health workers, industry partners and leaders who are working diligently to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

In response to the crisis, we rolled out a three-part program to provide our members with real-time, practical and succinct information and support. We continue to offer information in real-time through a special webinar series, a program to manage and facilitate chapter continuity, and a social media strategy to share and disseminate timely and curated information for easy consumption by busy health leaders.

To support our members, we’ve started to provide two one-hour group coaching sessions per week as a complimentary offer for CCHL members from LEADS Canada Executive Coaches. We’ve also worked with the Canadian Psychological Association and registered psychology practitioners who are donating some of their time to provide psychological services to front line health care providers and CCHL members who may be feeling stressed, overwhelmed or distressed during this health crisis.

New relevant content and resources are consistently being made available on our website, including “Leadership in a Crisis” research and materials, as well as Healthcare Management Forum articles, blogs and podcasts.

We have announced decisions on the status of our June events, initially planned in Edmonton, Alberta from June 12 to June 17, 2020. We have been actively monitoring the situation and following guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Chief Medical Officer of Health from Alberta, and we have adjusted our events and programming accordingly. We remain focused on four emerging priorities:
  1. Staff wellness and team culture;
  2. Member value and leadership support in a pandemic context;
  3. Financial sustainability; and
  4. Readiness for post-pandemic recovery with new value propositions and models.

The staff of CCHL's national office continues to work from home and are all connected and available to support our members. We will continue to do our best to respond to member enquiries and deliver our services without interruptions, and we thank you for your patience during this time.
