The Canadian College of Health Leaders hosted a virtual convocation on June 14, 2020 to celebrate the achievements of a record number of members receiving their designations. The CHE designation is an important professional recognition awarded by the College. Since revising the program last year, the uptake of the CHE has consistently surpassed historical milestones, recording highest monthly registration rates in 8 out of the last 9 months.
For the 2020 celebration, hosted by Feisal Keshavjee, CHE, Board Chair, and Alain Doucet, President & CEO, the College had the privilege and honour of introducing 376 new Certified Health Executives, who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to their profession and have successfully met all the requirements of the CHE Program.
The growth of the CHE Select represents an expanding network of engaged Canadian healthcare leaders, dedicated to lifelong learning, collaboration and system improvement.
CHE Select intensifies the College’s role in supporting those leaders in the Canadian health system to define and understand their leadership style and the role they play in leading system change. The revised program represents an extensive journey into LEADS-based leadership development using tools, content and processes representing current best practices and evidence.
As part of the virtual ceremony, Dr. Jaason Geerts addressed the graduates with a brief presentation on Leadership in a Crisis. He discussed the key points of leadership during a crisis, as well as what we can learn from this experience and carry forward in our leadership in the months to come.
The convocation was originally scheduled to be held in Edmonton, Alberta around the NHLC Conference, but was presented virtually first the first time in response to the COVID-19 restrictions.
