Following the overwhelming interest in the Spring 2026 Strategic Alliance webinar, “Not Perfect, but the Best,” the CCHL Research & Leadership Development team has decided to offer an advanced session to extend the discussion.
The original session provided an overview of the topic:
- The evolving leadership context: key issues and implications for leaders and staff;
- What we mean by Best of the Best (BOTB) leader behaviours: those that distinguish the most outstanding leaders, not only from bad managers, but from good, otherwise competent, ones;
- The predominant scarcity of guidance and evidence in the literature on the topic;
- The potential value, limitations, and applications of BOTB for leaders, teams, and organizations; and,
- An initial sample of BOTB leader behaviours, .
**It is not mandatory to have seen the original webinar to participate in the advanced event. To view the recording of the original, please contact Dr. Geerts at jgeerts@cchl-ccls.ca.
The Advanced Live Event: Details
The advanced live event will delve deeper into those BOTB behaviours with real-world examples and specific ways in which event participants might apply them to their own careers.
The event features an anonymous 4-minute pre-event survey and a highly interactive, hour-long webinar with time for questions at the end.
Advanced Live Event: Content
Informing the content will be:
- Insights and afterthoughts from those who viewed the original webinar, based on their own professional expertise and experience,

- Substantial rapid research input from hundreds of leaders in different sectors at all levels, and
- A dedicated literature review on the topic.
