Featured Speakers:


Dr. Leah Lambert, Senior Scientist, Clinical Research at BC Cancer

Dr. Leah Lambert is a Senior Scientist, Clinical Research at BC Cancer, with a cross appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor at the UBC School of Nursing. Her program of research takes an equity-first approach to examining the needs of cancer patients and caregivers, with a focus on expanding multidisciplinary approaches to problem solving within the care system. She investigates how cancer care practices, policies, and structures contribute to inequities, and identifies strategies to enhance equity, improve patient outcomes, and stabilize the workforce. Her long-term vision is to advance more equitable, responsive, and person-centered cancer services by generating evidence-based strategies for addressing differences at the point of care and through system-level approaches to close the health equity gap.


Joanne Isber, Program Director, IH Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Currently residing in Kelowna, BC, Joanne’s professional career spans 36 years’ with experience as a Lab professional employed in both Canada and the USA.  Joanne currently is the Program Director for Interior Health Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, leading a new strategic vision for present and future environments.   With a passion for quality and education, Joanne has also been the Instructor for CSMLS Quality Systems course since 2016 and has accomplished personal educational accolades in Medical Technology, Health Administration and a Masters of Business. Education is for life!


Dr. Celia Culley, Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at Royal Jubilee Hospital

Dr. Celia Culley is the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria with Island Health. Her quality improvement project, The Critical Air Project, with co-collaborator internist Dr Val Stoynova focuses on climate-conscious inpatient inhaler practices. Together, they won the Canadian Society for Healthcare-Systems Pharmacy National Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Practice in 2024 and the Health Quality BC Award for Achievement in Sustainable Health Care in 2025. She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Leadership (Health) at Royal Roads University.


Lindi Close, BC Cancer Research

Lindi Close is a Research Nurse with the BC Cancer Research Institute. Her experience in healthcare includes Neonatal Intensive Care, bed management, and working as a Senior Practice Leader with the BC Women’s Hospital Neonatal Program. Lindi completed her master’s degree at UBC in Health Leadership and Policy with a focus on sustainability in healthcare and has worked with Nourish Leadership to promote Planetary Health Menus and decolonizing hospital food systems. She is passionate about exploring the interconnectedness of human and planetary health to nursing practice, showcased by the co-development and delivery of the Planetary Health Nursing Internship Program, the first of it’s kind in Canada. Lindi’s goal is to improve patient outcomes and decrease the environmental impacts of health care delivery at BC Cancer through advocating and teaching nurses about planetary health principles
