CIHI’s National Health Expenditure Database (NHEX) is Canada’s primary source for information on health expenditure. This presentation will shed light on the key findings of the most recent NHEX release on November 6, 2025, including how much is spent on health care annually in Canada, in what areas money is spent and on whom, and where the money comes from. It will provide the insights into the key trends of national health expenditure, factors to impact the health care spending, and potential challenges shaping the health care in future.

Jean He, Program Lead, Health Expenditures, CIHI
Jean He is the Program Lead of the Health Expenditure team at CIHI. She is responsible for leading the development of health expenditure data for CIHI’s National Health Expenditure Database (NHEX) and supports the dissemination of health spending information in Canada. Jean first joined the CIHI in 2002 working on Case Mix grouping methodologies and resource indicators including Ambulatory Cost Weights. Prior to that, Jean was the associate professor at School of Economics in Peking University of China.
