What does it take to write for a peer-reviewed journal? Join us for a conversation between Don Juzwishin, PhD, FCCHL, the Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Management Forum (HMF), Ron Lindstrom, PhD, FCCHL, the former Editor-in-Chief of HMF, and Marcy Saxe-Braithwaite, DBA, CHE, the Associate Vice President of Executive Search Services at The Medfall Group,  as they walk through the journal’s humble history and provide tips for potential authors on how they can write an article that will resonate with readers. The discussion will answer questions including: Why is peer review publishing important? What makes this journal unique? And, how to write an article that people will want to read.

Don Juzwishin, PhD, FCCHL, has 40 years of experience in global, national, provincial and local healthcare administration, research, consulting and education. He is Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Management Forum, a Fellow of CCHL, and currently holds adjunct Associate Professor positions at the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, and Victoria. Don also leads the healthcare and service delivery challenge area for AGE-WELL and is the Chair of the Alberta Genome Canada Research Oversight Committee. He established and led Alberta Health Services’ inaugural Health Technology Assessment & Innovation program, and previously directed HTA at both the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research and the Institute of Health Economics. Globally, he has advised the World Health Organization’s Technical Advisory Group on Health Technology; served on the INAHTA Board and in leadership roles with HTAi; and consulted in Ukraine, Brazil, China, Kazakhstan and Tanzania, including service on the Board of the Canadian Society for International Health.

Ron Lindstrom, PhD, FCCHL, a health systems consultant and Adjunct Professor in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia and in the School of Leadership Studies at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia. His research and practice interests span a number of areas including health leadership, health services planning and policy, knowledge linkage and exchange, participatory action research, complex adaptive systems, and inter-organizational networks.  He has extensive knowledge of, and experience in, the British Columbia healthcare system having held a number of senior management roles in community hospitals and academic health centres. Ron was also the Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Management Forum from 2015-2017 and is a Fellow of CCHL.

Marcy Saxe-Braithwaite, DBA, CHE, the Associate Vice President of Executive Search Services at The Medfall Group, has more than 40 years of experience in healthcare, many of which in senior leadership position including as the Regional Chief Nursing Officer at Vancouver Coastal Health Authority,  Vice President of Professional Affairs and Chief Nursing Officer at Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, and Vice President of Programs and Chief Nursing Officer at Providence Care in Kingston, Ontario. Her focus has been on values- driven leadership, quality and process improvement, mentoring and leadership development, and delivering operational efficiencies through staff education and development. Marcy is also a long-standing member of the Editorial Board of Healthcare Management Forum, a Certified Health Executive with CCHL, and a Certified LEADS Coach.
