Les Fisher, Managing Director, Emergency Health Services
Les Fisher brings more than four decades of experience across emergency medical services, spanning frontline paramedicine, critical care transport, and senior executive leadership. He currently serves as Managing Director of the Emergency Health Services Provincial Health Corporation, where he is responsible for leading the delivery of emergency health services across Alberta and strengthening a system that supports both patients and frontline teams when it matters most. Throughout his career, Les has held a number of senior leadership roles, including Program Director of EMS Strategy, Planning, and Reporting, and Director of EMS Operations with Alberta Health Services. He has also served as Chief Operating Officer of BC Ambulance Service and held leadership roles with STARS Air Ambulance. These experiences, across both Alberta and British Columbia, have given him a unique perspective on system design, operational excellence, and the realities of delivering care in high pressure environments. Les’s leadership has been shaped by a deep connection to the frontline and a clear understanding of the challenges paramedics face every day. He is known for his steady approach, his ability to navigate complexity, and his commitment to building systems that are responsive, coordinated, and grounded in the needs of patients and providers.
