Finally, we are reuniting in person! Join your peers and colleagues in the GTA for a Breakfast Networking event and speaker panel.

The panel discussion with executives who have “made the jump” in their leadership journey from operational management to strategic/ executive positions. We plan to have a facilitated discussion with 4 speakers, 3 senior health executives and the perspective of an executive recruiter. Whether you are looking to further your career or needing to effectively communicate to the C-Suite, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in the Q&A and come away with new insights.

Jennifer Quaglietta, CEO & Registrar, Professional Engineers Ontario

Jennifer Quaglietta is the CEO & Registrar with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), where she is leading the organization through an historical enterprise-wide transformation towards becoming a professional, modern, and trusted regulator that consistently serves and protects the public interest. As a licensed professional engineer with a passion for improving communities, Jennifer has dedicated over twenty years in the public and private sectors to advance health outcomes, safety and quality in healthcare. Most recently, as Vice President, Performance Excellence and Information Services at the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC), Jennifer revolutionized the organization’s practices and thinking with a goal to build a safer healthcare system across Canada. Jennifer’s belief in the power of knowledge sharing and the importance of building future leaders, has her partnering with universities across the province to support engineering student placements, capstone programs in the workplace, and serving as an Industry Affiliate with the Centre for Healthcare Engineering at the University of Toronto. Her accomplishments are reflected in the many awards she has received, including the 2022 The Robert Zed Young Health Leader Award, 2021 Not-for-Profit CIO of the Year Award (CIO Association of Canada), and the 2020 Top 10 Women Leaders in Digital Health Award (Digital Health Canada). She is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering program and holds an MBA and ICD.D from the Rotman School of Management. She currently sits on the Board of Directors at Holland Bloorview Rehabilitation Hospital.

 

Christine Nielsen, CEO, Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science

Christine Nielsen became Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science in 2010. Prior, she was Director of Certification for seven years, with a brief stint as Deputy Registrar for the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario. Trained as a medical laboratory technologist, she has a degree in Health Admin, a Certificate of Mastery in Prior Learning Assessment from DePaul University, Chicago, and is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) since 2008. She has recently completed an MBA from Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh Business School, Scotland. Christine is past Chair of CNAR – the Canadian Network of Agencies of Regulation, Ottawa. She is also an experienced Prior Learning Assessment Assessor with the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE). She has served the Michener Institute of Education at UHN’s Alumni Association for over two decades and is a Board member with the Oakville & Milton Humane Society.

 

Catherine Wang, Vice President, Clinical at University Health Network

Catherine serves as Vice President, Clinical at University Health Network (UHN). In this role, she is the executive lead to UHN’s Diagnostic Programs which include Laboratory Medicine and the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI). Both programs are the largest sub-specialized, academic programs in Canada, dedicated to providing the highest quality, precision diagnostics to our patients; advancing knowledge and innovation through research; as well as teaching and investing in the development of diagnostic professionals.
Catherine also spearheads UHN’s organizational-wide strategy for Outpatient and Virtual Care with the aim to provide high quality, compassionate care consistently across its 300+ clinics.
Catherine is appointed as Assistant Professor to the Department of Medical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She also holds an academic appointment at The Institute for Education Research at UHN as Education Investigator.
Earlier in her career, Catherine has held progressive management roles within the rehab, paediatric and acute care sectors. She has served the McGuinty government as Senior Policy Advisor for Cabinet Office as well as worked for the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.
Based on her lived experience as a 2nd generation Canadian-Chinese, she is a passionate advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion. This includes voluntary roles such as co-sponsor for UHNWomen and Vice Chair of Massey Centre Board of Directors, a client-centered infant and early childhood mental health organization.
Catherine is married with two children.

 

Colin McLeod, Partner, Head of Healthcare Practice at Odgers Berndtson

A driven, charismatic, and dynamic Recruitment professional, with a wealth of experience in the recruitment of senior VP and C-suite roles in the healthcare field. Colin and his organization specialize in recruiting, assessing, and developing senior executives and board members in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors across Canada, and internationally. Colin graduated with degrees in Arts and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario and is an active volunteer, serving on the executive of the University Alumni Association.
