President & Chief Financial Officer

President & CEO, Mental Health Commission of Canada

In Canada and around the world there is overwhelming agreement that physical health care and mental health care are equally important. Over the past decade, the Mental Health Commission of Canada and its partners and stakeholders from across the country have made great strides in addressing a broad range of mental health issues, which we now know impact us all.

Today, MHCC continues to play a significant role in combatting the stigma that has shrouded mental illness. The organization is working tirelessly to amplify the voices of lived experience, articulating the need for increased investments, and highlighting the societal cost of turning a blind eye to the needs of the one in five Canadians who experience mental illness in any given year.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a leader with compassion, vision and exceptional communications and interpersonal skills to help write MHCC’s next chapter, as its President & CEO

As President & CEO, reporting to the Board of Directors, you will lead a strong leadership team and staff that are innovating and achieving measurable outcomes and enabling public policy change, world class research and knowledge generation, and excellence in service and program design and delivery for the benefit of all Canadians. You will join a pan-Canadian organization that is poised to tackle the many challenges that Canadians are currently facing and that lie ahead.

To deliver on MHCC’s bold mission will require a team effort and the engagement of MHCC’s staff and Board and its many partners and stakeholders from across the country, including the Federal, Provincial and Territorial governments and First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. From the President & CEO, it will require strategic foresight, team leadership, a compelling voice and the embodiment of MHCC’s values and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

As the ideal candidate, you bring to the MHCC an intrinsic understanding of the importance of mental health. You have had great success as a respected champion and advocate, a dynamic and strategic leader, a trusted advisor and partner, and a skilled and generous mentor and coach. Your knowledge of government decision and policy making in Canada and around the world will be highly valued as will your national and international networks. Your ability to communicate in Canada’s official languages is preferred.

If you are interested in learning more about this unique, national leadership opportunity, or to apply in confidence, please email Pamela Colquhoun and Michael Naufal at pcolquhoun@boyden.com & mnaufal@boyden.com.

The MHCC is working to improve mental health services, supports and programs for diverse populations, including Indigenous communities, immigrant, refugee, racialized and ethno-cultural groups, people in the LGBTQ2S community, youth, seniors, and people in minority language situations. The MHCC is committed to fostering a culture and employing a workforce that is representative of this diversity.
