David Keselman

David is a Doctorate prepared nurse with almost 30 years of diverse front line and leadership experience. His educational background along with his clinical experience combine for a compassionate, ethical, creative, and innovative individual and leader, who does not neglect the operational and business directed bottom line approach. Highly effective, morally resilient leader who is self-directed, yet exceptionally comfortable in a team setting, has strong work ethic, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Competencies include, project management, financial management, staff education, performance, and engagement, physician collaboration, quality and safety, and performance improvement, to name a few. Recognized for expertise and outcomes in performance measurement, relationship building, collaboration, and workforce development. David’s diverse background includes front line and leadership roles in Public Health, Acute Care, Accreditation, Academia, Community, and currently as the CEO of the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and Weinberg Residence. One of BC lower mainland’s largest Long-Term Care (LTC) and Complex Continuing Care (CCC) hospital/facility. Progressively and throughout his career, David has been fortunate to work within diverse geographical environment, (Rural and Remote, Northern cultures), culminating and deepening his understanding and ability to work with and within Health Authorities, marginalized and vulnerable populations, government officials and Policy Makers focusing his attention on enhancing his skills to deliver comprehensive and culturally safe healthcare services. David has gained significant experience in leading and overseeing complex projects with diverse stakeholder groups and partners. Working and surveying across a range of national and international jurisdictions afforded him unique opportunities to learn and experience how healthcare is applied and experienced, while being able to focus on specific outcomes and pressures, including but not limited to cultural diversity, regionalization and integration of services, stakeholder engagement, and operationalization of provincial programs and initiatives. David has published several articles some of which focused on poverty and health, the maximization of the scope of practice of Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), ethical leadership, and retention and recruitment of men in nursing. David is a member of the Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma Theta Tau International) and the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL). He has been a sessional instructor at Ryerson University, School of Nursing for over 15 years, and has taught at the University of Victoria, Aurora College campus in Yellowknife. He has been teaching variety of on-line graduate level courses with the Athabasca University, Faculty of Health Disciplines (since 2016), including leadership, evidence-based practice, Historical and Contemporary Trends and issues in Nursing, and culture and health. David holds a Yellow and a Green belt in LEAN healthcare and is a Certified Health Executive (CHE). David’s passions are quality improvement, innovation, and implementing patient and family centered care throughout the healthcare industry.
