CCHL Awards LEADS Certification to University of Toronto, Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, Doctor of Nursing (D.N.) and Agree to New Three-Year Strategic Alliance

March 27, 2023

This new partnership agreement serves as an avenue to promote excellence in the health leadership field with the opportunity to incorporate the LEADS framework into its curriculum.

The Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) has awarded the LEADS certification to the University of Toronto’s, Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, Doctor of Nursing (DN). The partnership agreement provides Doctor of Nursing program participants with an opportunity to obtain their Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation while completing their studies.

Brenda Lammi, Vice President, Leadership and Professional Development at the CCHL, said: “We are excited about this collaboration with not only Canada’s first Doctor of Nursing program, but also Bloomberg Nursing, who show their commitment to health leadership by committing to have the CHE as a preferred designation for their students.”

“The leadership of our Doctor of Nursing students is reflected through their bold and evidence-based work that sets out to improve health care,” said Linda Johnston, Dean of the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. “This partnership with the CCHL and the LEADS designation for our DN program, further illustrates the tremendous leadership opportunities available to Bloomberg Nursing students.”

This collaboration will also allow for both organizations to better address the constantly evolving needs of health leaders and align themselves with the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework. This framework is a foundation for Canadian health leadership development and defines the knowledge, skills and attitudes a leader must have to positively contribute to the Canadian health care system.
