The Canadian College of Health Leaders is pleased to announce that Corinne Hohl, MDCM, FRCPC, MSc has been named the recipient of the 2026 Healthcare Management Forum Article of the Year Award for her article entitled “Developing and implementing a new health information technology innovation to improve patient safety in the Canadian context.”

Corinne Hohl is Professor and Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of British Columbia and a Scientist at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation. She is a practicing emergency physician at Vancouver General Hospital and Academic Lead for Emergency Care BC, the provincial emergency care health improvement network.
Hohl and her co-authors, Craig Kuziemsky, PhD, and Arnold Ikedichi Okpani, PhD, developed an interoperable health information technology that allows clinicians to communicate adverse drug events across health sectors. This article was chosen because of its evidence-based approach to solving a problem that has plagued health systems for years. The technology addresses a major safety gap, and this article provides practical information for health leaders on how to proactively spread and scale this innovation.
This award is focused on honouring a journal author whose article has helped to challenge the traditional notions of health leadership and motivate transformational behaviour.
The HMF Article of the Year Award is sponsored by SAGE Publishing, a leading independent, academic and professional publisher of innovative, high-quality content.
This award is part of our CCHL National Awards Program and will be presented at the Honouring Health Leadership event on June 14, 2026.
