The renewed agreement promotes excellence in the health leadership and provides students from the University of Calgary’s Precision Health Graduate Program with an expedited and cost-effective pathway to the Certified Health Executive (CHE) Program.
The University of Calgary’s Precision Health Graduate Program has renewed its strategic alliance with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) to increase the leadership capabilities of health care managers in Canada.
The CHE designation is the only national certification program for Canadian health executives. This program offers several benefits including support for lifelong learning in health services leadership, assistance with career advancement, peer recognition and a one-of-a-kind professional development designation designed to advance their career.
Stephan (Steve) Plourde, CHE, Chief Operating Officer at CCHL, says: “We are thrilled to renew our partnership with the University of Calgary’s Precision Health Graduate Program. Their continued trust in the CHE as their preferred designation reflects a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and advancing the future of health leadership in Canada.”
“This renewed partnership accelerates our Precision Health Graduate Program learners because it pairs the innovative program curriculum with a sought-after executive leadership credential,” says Dr. Beverly Adams, MD, vice dean of UCalgary’s Cumming School of Medicine.
“We are proud to partner with the CCHL. Their willingness to provide learners with additional leadership development and valuable networking opportunities acknowledges that they are equipped to succeed in an emerging field. The CCHL designation has boosted opportunities for graduates to have a greater impact in precision medicine.”
The partnership was originally signed in 2022 and has been extended three more years. This collaboration will also allow for both organizations to better address the constantly evolving needs of health leaders and align themselves with the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework. This framework is a foundation for Canadian health leadership development and defines the knowledge, skills and attitudes a leader must have to positively contribute to the Canadian health care system.
Applications for UCalgary’s Precision Health Graduate Program are now open and will be accepted until May 31. Early bird deadline ends Apr. 15. This transdisciplinary program brings together future health care leaders, entrepreneurs and educators with the goal of driving improvement in patient care. The program was built for a broad audience of health care professionals, including medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, optometry, dentistry, and other professionals who want to advance their careers and assume leadership positions, and offers flexible online course options for busy professionals.
