Sault College and CCHL Enter into a Three-Year Strategic Alliance

November 25, 2025

Partnership agreement serves as an avenue to promote excellence in the health leadership field

Sault College Health Care Administration (HCA) and Health Care Leadership (HCL) programs have entered into a strategic alliance with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) to increase the leadership capabilities of health care managers in Canada.

Through this agreement, participants in the Sault College’s HCA and HCL programs will work towards obtaining their Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation, the only certification program for Canadian health leaders. This program offers individual leaders several benefits including support for lifelong learning in health services leadership; assistance with career advancement; peer recognition and serves as an essential career designation.

Stephan (Steve) Plourde, CHE, Chief Operating Officer at the CCHL, said: “We are excited about this collaboration with Sault College, which demonstrates its commitment to health leadership by incorporating the LEADS framework into its curriculum and promoting the CHE as a preferred designation for its students.”

Theresa Mudge, CHE, Program Coordinator for Sault College’s Health Care Administration and Health Care Leadership programs, added: “This alliance with the Canadian College of Health Leaders represents a shared vision for the future of Canadian health care leadership. By embedding the LEADS framework and CHE pathway into our programs, we are equipping emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to strengthen health organizations, inspire teams, and advance equitable, person-centred systems of care.”

This collaboration will also allow for both organizations to better address the constantly evolving needs of health leaders and align themselves with the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework. This framework is a foundation for Canadian health leadership development and defines the knowledge, skills and attitudes a leader must have to positively contribute to the Canadian health care system.
