Dr. Cy Frank is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Alberta Innovates - Health Solutions.

Before becoming the CEO of Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions in 2013, Dr. Frank was a Professor in the Division of Orthopaedics/Department of Surgery, University of Calgary/Alberta Health Services. He has a 30-year history of competitive grant support from the Medical Research Council and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, as well as career development support from the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, now Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions. Most recently he was a Senior Investigator, Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions; the McCaig Professor of Joint Injury and Arthritis Research; Executive Director of the provincial Alberta Bone & Joint Health Institute (ABJHI); and Vice President, Research Strategy, Alberta Health Services.

Dr. Frank is an Orthopaedic surgeon who still practices knee surgery in Calgary. His longstanding research interest is in knee ligaments and his studies of osteoarthritis span all four pillars of research—from the bench to the bedside. He was a founder of recently sold TENET Medical Engineering, a Calgary based company which manufactures and distributes surgical positioning devices to over 35 countries world-wide.
