Guest Speakers: Stephen Brown, PhD, Deputy Minister of Health, Province of British Columbia

The province of BC is currently undergoing significant healthcare system change. The province is moving toward a system that will be focused more on the primary care systems that support patients to receive the care they need in their own community rather than a reliance on traditional hospital based acute care. As Deputy Minister of Health Stephen Brown will offer an update on achievements and work done to date provincially and what leaders at the front line can expect moving forward.

Dr. Stephen Brown was Deputy Minister, Ministry of Children and Family Development, from March 2011to June 2013.  Before being appointed as Deputy Minister of Health, Stephen held the position of Chief Administrative Officer, Ministry of Health Services, since July 22, 2008.  Stephen was responsible for the Health System Planning Division, Primary Health Care, Labour Relations, Legislation and Professional Regulation and Corporate Policy, Research and Library Services branches. His current work is focused on improving primary care delivery through the model of health and care across the province.
