Featured Speaker: Luke Disney – Executive Director of North Star Alliance

Luke Disney is an entrepreneurial leader with 20 years experience in Europe, Africa, and North America – the last eight years as the Founding Executive Director of North Star Alliance, an award-winning social enterprise uniting governments, businesses and civil society in health systems strengthening the fight against AIDS.

Luke was recruited by the United Nations World Food Program and the express delivery company TNT Express to pioneer a new way of reaching highly mobile populations in Africa with essential healthcare services to help stop the spread of HIV and other communicable diseases across the continent.

Starting in 2007, Luke built a network of drop-in primary health clinics at strategic hotspots along Africa’s major transport routes using converted sea containers. Today North Star Alliance has over 170 employees with an annual operating budget of over $8,000,000 supporting 37 roadside Wellness Centres in 11 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. In 2014, North Star Clinics treated over 220,000 patients, and have carried out over 1,000,000 treatments since the organization’s inception.
