Eastern Ontario Chapter presents
Meeting diverse healthcare needs with Internationally Educated Nurse (IEN) talent

November 9, 2016
  12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Featured Speakers:

  • Dr. Andrea Baumann, Associate Vice-President, Global Health, Faculty of Health Sciences and Scientific Director, Nursing Health Services Research Unit (NHSRU), McMaster University
  • Dana Ross, Project Manager, NHSRU, McMaster University
As part of the Partnering with Employers: Increasing IEN Employment Project, the NHSRU has conducted a scoping review, interviews with healthcare leaders, and a nursing job posting analysis. IENs and other internationally-educated health professionals bring an international perspective to health care organizations to enable them to meet the language and cultural needs of their increasingly diverse patient population. By valuing and respecting diversity, health care providers who employ and successfully transition new Canadians can enhance patient experiences and improve patient safety.
