  December 8, 2016
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. PST
Patient Care Centre Lecture Theatre, Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria

A world without dementia will take a movement. Join us for an exciting session with The Alzheimer Society of BC’s CEO, Maria Howard, to hear about the organizations transformative journey. This presentation will focus on the tools and techniques used by the Alzheimer Society to lead a societal change in consciousness – away from fear and denial of dementia. The importance of mission and vision, strategic planning processes, engagement of others, and advancement of knowledge through research, including system transformation in the not-for-profit sector, will be discussed. Challenges faced, lessons learned, and keys to the successful implementation of major change management initiatives will be outlined.

Guest Speaker:  Maria Howard, MBA, Chief Executive Officer, Alzheimer Society of B.C.

Since joining the Society in 2014, the four year strategic plan she has set for the Society is well underway. The strategy includes ambitious goals to expand the First Link® program across the province, implement Dementia Friendly Communities and augment funds for research. Maria is a dynamic and strategic thinker with both provincial and national board governance experience. Her decades of leadership in the health-care sector and her commitment to operational excellence fit with the Society’s ambitious strategy.
