Since her appointment to Associate Minister a year ago, Minister Payne has been at the forefront of the ongoing opioid crisis, a patient’s right to choose in end of life care, and the Province’s mental health review. Reflecting on her first year as Associate Minister, Ms. Payne will be sharing what she sees as the opportunities ahead as Alberta continues to shift focus and funding to community health.

Guest Speaker: The Honourable Brandy Payne, Associate Minister of Health, Government of Alberta

Brandy Payne was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Calgary-Acadia on May 5, 2015. On February 2, 2016, Ms. Payne was appointed Associate Minister of Health.

She currently serves as deputy chair of the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee. She is also a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and the Standing Committee on Families and Communities.

Ms. Payne holds a journalism degree from Carleton University and graduated with high honours. She has also attended Mount Royal College, taking numerous training courses in project management.

Prior to her election, Ms. Payne worked in administrative and management capacities for over 15 years, including as owner and operator of her own yoga business since 2010.
