The GTA Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) is excited to present the second installment of its leadership development series, in partnership with University Health Network (UHN). Please join us on Monday, September 11th, 2017 to hear Dr. Charlie Chan, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at UHN, share his leadership journey and experience. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn about Dr. Chan’s journey from medical resident to senior executive, and hear his insights on the future of health care.

Over 2017-18, leaders from UHN will share stories about their professional journey, speaking candidly about their careers, while imparting advice for current and future leaders. Speakers will also provide their thoughts and insights on the future of health care both at UHN and across the system. Following the presentations, guests will have an opportunity to engage with speakers in a Q and A session.

Charlie Chan’s Biography
Dr. Charles Chan received his M.D. from the University of Toronto, Canada. He completed his Internal Medicine & Pulmonary Medicine training at the University of Toronto (U of T) and Yale University in the USA. Dr. Chan was a Visiting Scholar at the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program.
Dr. Chan is a Professor of Medicine at U of T. His current hospital leadership role is Executive Vice-President responsible for Clinical Programs, Quality & Safety & Chief Medical Officer at University Health Network (UHN). Dr. Chan’s current university leadership role is Senior Advisor to the Chair of the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Chan is the past-President of the Ontario Thoracic Society. He was an examiner for the adult Respirology examining board of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Chan also serves on several CPSO committees related to physician practices, and served as Chair of the Provincial Physicians Leadership Council of the Ontario Hospital Association and co-chair of the Physicians Hospital Issues Committee of the Ontario Hospital association & Ontario Medical Association.
Dr. Chan has served or chaired numerous regional / provincial / government, national and international consensus guidelines groups or expert panels for treatment guidelines for respiratory conditions. Dr. Chan has also served as board members for several non-profit foundations including the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and the Toronto General & Western Hospitals Foundation.
