The acute care of the elderly

March 13, 2019
  12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Newfoundland Time
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time

The Acute Care of the Elderly unit model of care pilot was  proposed in response to the growing  demand for acute inpatient services by those aged 65 years and over and as a response to the increasing prevalence of frail elderly. Acute Care of the Elderly units are designed, staffed and managed to meet the acute health needs of the most vulnerable older people and older people at risk of functional decline and poor outcomes as a result of hospitalization, including those with dementia and delirium. The presentation objectives will discuss the pilot initiation, findings and future planning of Acute Care of Elderly in an acute care setting.
