CCHL - Northern Alberta Chapter presents
Have you ever been involved in a change project that did not go as planned? If you have, you are not alone. Although the numbers are contested, research suggests that up to 70% of organizational change initiatives fail.
Beyond The Plan Workshop: Facilitating and Encouraging Change in Organizations
26 September 2019
Royal Glenora Club

Edmonton, AB T5J 2G7
There is a large body of knowledge about a leader's role in change. But leadership is only one piece of the change puzzle. For change to infiltrate throughout an organization, it is important to consider the process of change and the involvement of other members of an organization. This includes middle and front line managers tasked with implementing planned changes, and front line staff whose work is affected by planned change initiatives.
In this workshop we will work through:
Participants will leave this 2 hour workshop with practical tools they can use to talk about, introduce, and encourage change.
- Participants’ experiences with introducing change in their organizations by identifying common themes about what worked and what did not work.
- Processes and strategies that could be used to address what did not work.
- How processes and strategies help encourage positive involvement and reduce resistance to change.
Kathryn and Jo-Louise work with senior, middle, and frontline managers and expert staff to improve how change initiatives are planned, introduced, and evaluated. Jo-Louise and Kathryn combine evidence, experience, and creativity with clients’ in-depth knowledge of their context. They bring a social science lens to their work, drawing together insights from different research traditions including organization and management, entrepreneurship, innovation, change, and original research by Dr. Huq. They combine research, experience, and recognized change processes (e.g., Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMPTM) Standards).
