The SHA serves a provincial population of 1.14 million, with infrastructure and services that consists of 245 facilities with 3,170 acute care beds. The SHA provides provincially coordinated quality, patient-centered services, such as Acute hospital-based care, Long Term Care, Mental Health and Addiction Services, Primary Health Care, Public Health, and many other community-based clinical programs designed to promote and maintain health of the population.
SHA is seeking an Executive Director of Provincial Mental Health and Addictions to lead transformative change and shape the future of mental health and addiction services across the province. Reporting to the Vice President and Physician Executive of Integrated Northern Health, you will collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to advance SHA’s mission and deliver exceptional care to the people of Saskatchewan.
In this senior leadership role, you will be accountable for the development and execution of provincial strategies to transform mental health and addiction services in Saskatchewan. You will lead efforts to standardize care delivery across SHA sites, ensuring high -quality and equitable services province-wide. By driving innovation and developing business cases for new priorities, you will help align mental health and addiction services with SHA’s long-term strategic goals and the Provincial Mental Health Addictions Action Plan. Additionally, you will serve as one of the key SHA liaisons with the Ministry of Health and other important stakeholders, championing the needs of Saskatchewan’s diverse population and ensuring services are responsive to provincial health priorities.
Your leadership will extend to supporting the provincial capital plan for mental health and addiction services, ensuring the necessary infrastructure is in place to meet future needs. You will be responsible for developing provincial health outcome and quality metrics to ensure our services are maintaining a high standard of care. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, you will champion patient- and family-centered care, safety, and continuous learning, while leading a high-performing team in a complex, unionized environment to achieve SHA’s objectives and drive meaningful impact across the province. You will work closely with the Provincial Heads of Psychiatry, other Provincial Executive Directors, and with the operational leaders responsible for the delivery of Mental Health and Addictions services across the SHA.
We seek a dynamic, visionary leader with 10+ years of senior leadership experience in healthcare, particularly in mental health and addiction services. A graduate-level education (Masters or equivalent) is required, along with a proven track record in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and system transformation. You must have strong interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to lead change, and experience managing complex multi-stakeholder initiatives in a healthcare setting. You must be an effective communicator, politically astute, and capable of leading a team to achieve excellence in an ever-changing, high-pressure environment.
