The climate crisis is a public health and equity crisis, as it impacts those who experience the highest levels of vulnerability. Although climate change carries the most complex challenges of our time, it also pushes us to think about solutions that can support life on Planet Earth as we look to the future. This virtual presentation will underline the various ways in which climate change-related events and emergencies affect individual and community health. Additionally, it will provide an overview of some of the implications for healthcare system responses to addressing environmental sustainability in practice and delivery of patient care. Raluca Radu, RN, MSN
Raluca is a nursing professional dedicated to environmental stewardship and promoting planetary health. She is currently working as a Climate and Health Educator for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). She provides, along with other expert advisors inside MSF, comprehensive and strategic guidance and support to MSF entities on climate change and planetary health literacy. She has a clear understanding of how climate change impacts the social determinants of health and healthcare delivery. Raluca is motivated to learn, grow and excel in the planetary health sphere, to protect public health from climate change impacts and to advocate for health system reform. Prior to joining MSF, Raluca worked in academia, as well as in public and private healthcare settings.
