Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation (CNSF)

The CNSF is a not-for-profit federation, managing six national speciality societies that deal with the management and prevention of neurologic conditions and diseases. The CNSF Societies own the Canadian Journal of Neurological Sciences (CJNS); A peer reviewed medical journal which is published and hosted through Cambridge Core. Learn more about the CJNS.

The CNSF hosts a Canadian Congress with four days of accredited scientific courses to assist our members, and others, with their Continuing Professional Development and Maintenance of Certification.

CNSF represents a diverse and collegial group of medical professionals with a common focus on diseases, disorders and injuries of the nervous systems with a focus on the well being of these individuals. CNSF must advocate and engage the societies that comprise its membership and advocate with a strong and effective voice knowing that its mission and vision have unique and important value to society.

As the Chief Executive Officer, you are responsible to the Board of Directors for the execution of all strategic board decisions and the effective administration of the organization, particularly the annual congress. You act on behalf of all member societies and develop beneficial, strategic relationships to help secure the continued success of the federation. You are dedicated to ensuring the long-term support for CNSF and understand the need to advocate, collaborate, drive value, and communicate on behalf of its members. You are self motivated, creative, and forward thinking and ideally have an understanding and experience with the landscape of medical associations.

As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced leader in nonprofit health systems/care who has led and managed complex governing structures. You are recognized and respected by your peers as a skilled, collaborative, and highly credible expert. As a manager and leader, you are team-oriented, resourceful, inclusive, and committed to the mentorship and professional development of a small staff. Colleagues value your strategic perspective and proactive approach, and regularly call on you for advice on all matters requiring a sophisticated advocacy lens. At the Board table, you are an active and engaged participant, voicing concerns, sharing ideas, and proactively providing options for the members to consider.

Your experience in and/or understanding of the Canadian healthcare system and the leadership experience in an association environment would be strong assets to the role, as would be your ability to communicate in both French and English.
