Alison Muniak, Executive Director, Health Quality BC

Allison (Allie) is an Executive Director at Health Quality BC and leads the Health System Improvement teams for Primary & Community Care; Mental Health, Substance Use, and Long-Term Care; Administrative Burdens for Physicians; and Patient and Public Engagement. She joined Health Quality BC in March 2023 after 14 years with Vancouver Coastal Health; from her most previous role as Executive Director for Quality & Patient Safety and Infection Prevention & Control where she led quality improvement and assurance, patient safety, patient experience, risk management, quality data analytics, medical quality and physician leadership, and infection prevention and control.

Allie has a passion to build innovative and sustainable solutions in health care systems with an emphasis on partnerships, collaboration, and advancing system improvements. Her experience in health care leadership is considerable with a rare blend of psychology, engineering, quality, safety, and the application of human factors principles on strategy, team development, and successful project implementation.

Allie completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Calgary with a focus in transportation and medical Human Factors. She received her Master of Applied Science from the University of Toronto in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (Human Factors) and completed her thesis work at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. She is a principal of Intunuity Solutions Inc., a boutique consultancy for Human Factors and process improvement. She has provided Human Factors support to almost every health authority in BC, is a faculty member for HQBC’s Quality Academy, has guest lectured at various universities and organizations globally, and completed her Chief Quality Officer Training with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in 2022.
