THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Care coordinates and supervises the delivery of nursing care to the residents to ensure resident-focused care is achieved in the home, in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, or in the absence of the Executive Director, this position will assume responsibility for the care and well-being of residents in the home. This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising others who deliver direct resident care: RNs, LPNs, and Health Care Aides. This position may involve direct resident care, and the nurse at this level will also have several supervisory responsibilities.

WHAT YOU BRING

You model accountability and coaching to create a homelike environment for everyone who enters into Eden Gardens. You display what you expect of others: kindness, competence and the belief that regardless of age or challenges, life is about continuing to grow.

You are a community minded change leader. You bring to the role:

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses.  Current practicing registration with the BCCNM.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in complex care with comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques as they relate to long term care.
  • Maturity and good physical and mental health, empathy, patience and tact are important qualities to possess.
  • Seeks out opportunities to maintain competency and continued learning.
  • Post RN/RPN education in Gerontology and three (3 – 5) years relevant experience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build effective work relationships with residents, clients, families, volunteers, staff, senior executives, and external agencies
  • Public speaking acumen is an asset
  • A strong working knowledge of legislation, regulations, and collective agreements
  • Working knowledge of information management systems including common industry software
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement necessary changes
  • A combination of education and experience may also be considered.

All employees must be eligible to work with vulnerable adults under the BC Criminal Records Review Program and provide proof of a negative TB screen and proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.
