Vice President, Community & Continuing Care
The Vice-President, Health Services, Community and Continuing Care is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for regional programs and services including Primary Care, Home Care, Long Term Care, Transitional Care, Palliative Care, Seniors, Supportive Housing, Allied Health and Mental Health and Addictions.
This Executive position has a key role in improving access and flow to ensure safe, timely, quality patient care. They are expected to set program priorities in alignment with organizational and provincial mandates. The role is part of a collaborative organizational staff and management team and is required to manage individual/portfolio performance, productivity and outcomes while maintaining a strong working relationship with staff, organizational leaders, community partners, provincial stakeholders, government agencies, and the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) President/CEO.
The Vice-President has 7 direct reports, with approximately 1500 program staff across the Community & Continuing Care portfolio, and a budget of approximately $120M.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possess a degree in a related health discipline, and a minimum of five (5) years of middle-senior level health management experience. Current registration and a member in good standing with the applicable regulatory body as appropriate.
- Has a proven history of effectively developing and enabling leaders and teams to achieve improved outcomes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian health care systems, including an understanding of trends and issues, in particular the issues of rural health service delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of data driven planning, improvement, and accountability.
- History of sustained effective partnerships with First Nations, community partners and stakeholders.
- Has effectively established structures and processes that align with improved client, patient and resident outcomes.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership competencies, effective critical thinking and proactive problem solving, and the ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and work collaboratively within a complex organization.
- History of building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external operational and strategic partners.
- Demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation actions, including anti-racism.
- Solution-focused and action-oriented approach to understanding health equity and to closing health equity gaps.
- Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the IERHA.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
- Experience achieving fiscal targets including preparation and management of budgets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health ethics and a commitment to working within an ethical framework that encourages evidenced-based decision making, accountability, transparency, and flexibility.
