About Riverview

Bethany Riverview is a purpose-built, 210 bed Continuing Care residence designed for complex dementia care and support. The site is embedded into a Campus of Care model and offers the Complex Dementia Care (CDC) specialty Long Term Care program the only program of its kind serving southern Alberta. Bethany Riverview features an indoor atrium, supportive technologies including Momentum resident safety system and electronic health record, and an on-site daycare and bistro, all contained within a beautiful, state of the art facility. Employees at Bethany Riverview receive enhanced training and an extended orientation in order to fully support our specialized programs and atmosphere.

About the Role

The successful candidate is an innovative Senior Leader in Continuing Care who is passionate about seniors’ care, the Campus of Care model and is experienced in developing Community relationships. Reporting to the Executive Director, Clinical Operations, the Administrator is responsible for ensuring the provision of outstanding care and support to residents, resident families and volunteers within their sites. The Administrator is accountable for the leadership and ongoing development of the Continuing Care and related programs and services at their site.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Performance Measures 

1. Service Excellence: Promotes service excellence and is accountable for ensuring a safe living environment for residents, families, and visitors, and actively seeking new ways to improve the quality of programs and services.

Performance Measures include:
  1. Provides leadership oversight of the day-to-day operations of the center.
  2. Identifies opportunities and develops proposals for new Care Centre programs and services consistent with the Bethany’s long range plan.  
  3. Works with external agencies to plan and implement new opportunities.
  4. Establishes community partnerships to support quality care for all residents. 
  5. Develops, manages and communicates annual operational and capital budgets and resources to members of the care team and facilitates the prioritization of care needs within budget allocation as part of monitoring the financial performance of the site
  6. Ensures that proper procedures are followed in order to obtain payment for resident accounts.
  7. Identifies budget variances and takes action to address budget issues in a timely manner. 
  8. Monitors and evaluates  qualitative and quantitative data to ensure continued improvement of programs and services. \
2. Team Work: Cares for and actively participates in and assists the site employees to achieve and maintain a responsible atmosphere of resident centered care. 

Performance Measures include:
  1. Promotes caring relationships with the site employees, by fostering an understanding of the unique contributions of all team members, as well as with the residents, families and visitors. 
  2. Establishes and maintains effective communication and rapport with all key stakeholders; internal and external.
  3. Collaborates with the Bethany Care Foundation to identify fundraising projects and develop fund proposals and other materials.
  4. Establishes and maintains rapport with appropriate provincial government officials. 
3. Leadership: Facilitates progressive and participative leadership and provides effective communication and vision for the provision of care and service. 

Performance Measures include:
  1. Manages site team in a manner which fosters quality care, good human relations, contract obligations, adherence to legislation and effective operations. 
  2. Engages with Community Partners to develop meaningful relationships to create a Campus of Care model.
  3. Recruits, selects and orients qualified team members to ensure a full staff compliment is maintained.
  4. Ensures a high standard of performance and a strong resident centered service orientation by providing regular feedback and enforcing procedures and standards.
  5. Facilitates and promotes staff development and recommends training programs that enhance skills and abilities.
  6. Sets performance targets for the site and ensures targets are met. 
  7. Ensure successful execution of business plan priorities and key initiatives. 
  8. Promotes and manages change in a manner which supports the vision, goals, values and directives of Bethany. 
  9. Identifies new revenue generating opportunities and ensures effective management of overdue accounts. 
  10. Develops and maintains effective communications with appropriate personnel with government departments and the local care community. 

4. Education
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in health related field; and 
  2. Master’s degree in health or business related field is preferred. 
5. Experience
  1. 5 – 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role, management skills required
  2. Experience developing and managing operational and capital budgets.
6. Professional Registration
  1. Active membership with the Canadian College of Health Leaders is preferred. 
7. Additional Skills
  1. Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.  
  2. Experience in developing and maintaining Community Partnerships
  3. Innovative leadership skills
  4. Excellent judgment and exemplary interpersonal skills
  5. Working knowledge of computer software
  6. Gerontology experience is an asset
  7. Excellent organizational skills

Le programme Leader certifié en santé (CHE/LCS) confère le seul titre qui existe au Canada pour tous les leaders en santé. Il se fonde sur les domaines du Cadre LEADS qui favorise l’apprentissage personnel continu.

Ce programme intensifie le rôle du Collège qui consiste à aider les leaders dans le système de santé canadien à définir et à comprendre leur style de leadership et le rôle qu’ils jouent dans la gestion du changement du système.
