The Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) is pleased to share several recent leadership updates, effective July 1, 2025.

We are proud to announce the appointment of Stéphan (Steve) Plourde, CHE, as Vice President, Corporate Services. A seasoned leader, Steve brings a distinguished background spanning healthcare, military service, and public administration. In his new role, he will lead and support key initiatives, including the College’s Indigenous and Francophone strategies, along with other corporate priorities.
Steve’s leadership was honoured with the Meritorious Service Medal for his work in Afghanistan, where he led a multidisciplinary team in strengthening health services for the Afghan National Security Forces. A longtime surveyor with Accreditation Canada, he also brings extensive experience in First Nations health and has served on numerous boards, including that of the Canadian College of Health Leaders and Ontario’s Home and Community Care Support Services. Since 2023, he has contributed his insights as a member of the CCHL Professional Standards Council.
Fluently bilingual, Steve holds a Master of Health Sciences from the University of Toronto and is a past recipient of the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Award. His strategic perspective and deep commitment to health leadership will be a valuable asset to the College and our members nationwide.
The College also announces changes in the following teams:
Changes to the Conferences and Events Team

Francine St-Martin, outgoing Director, Conferences and Events, has retired after 19 years of dedicated service. Her leadership and warmth will be missed, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.

Brianna Sowlles, with CCHL since 2016, has been promoted to Director, Conferences and Events. Her energy and dedication will shape the College’s future conference programming and execution.

Josiane Mercier has been promoted to Senior Coordinator, Conferences and Events. A committed and meticulous colleague, Josiane’s contributions continue to elevate the College’s work.
Human Resources Update

Amy O’Brien, known to many of our members through her work with Chapters and the Board of Directors, has taken on a new role as Director, People, Culture and Member Engagement. We’re excited for Amy to support our strategic HR goals and help advance our vision of becoming one of Canada’s top small employers.
Please join us in congratulating all of our colleagues on their new roles!
