Committed to delivering quality and safe care in English and French to patients, clients and their families, Horizon operates 12 hospitals and more than 100 medical facilities, clinics, and offices throughout New Brunswick, and also serves patients from northern Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Horizon provides acute and specialized care in hospitals, including critical and trauma services, and is responsible for several unique provincial programs. At the foundation of this health system is a robust network of community-based primary care services offered in a variety of settings in communities throughout the province. The primary care system is comprised of diverse facilities and services, including community health centres, clinics, public health services, community hospitals, as well as addictions and mental health services.

With research partners nationally and internationally with academia and industry, Horizon is putting New Brunswick on the map as a health care trend setter in modern and innovative practices. Horizon is dedicated to educating the health care leaders of tomorrow by training physicians, nurses and other health care professionals and is home to the Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick and Memorial University’s clerkship programs. Other collaborative education programs include the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board-accredited Horizon Pharmacy Residency Program, the Clinical Psychology Residency Program, The Moncton Hospital Post Graduate Dietetic Internship Program, and The Moncton Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and the Saint John School of Radiological Technology.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer (VP/CFO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), contributing to setting overall vision, direction, and priorities across a broad portfolio that intersects with all aspects of clinical and corporate operations. In addition to Finance, responsibilities include capital asset planning, budgeting, construction and redevelopment; safe and efficient medical device reprocessing; environmental services and patient porting; engineering services; facilities and property management; logistics, supply chain, procurement services, and leasing. As the senior finance leader, the VP/CFO also provides strategic financial advice to the CEO and Board and leads initiatives related to financial management, efficiency and effectiveness, working closely with senior leadership and government departments. In summary, the VP/CFO is a key player in ensuring the financial and long-term success of the organization and that the delivery of health services continues to meet the province’s needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and energetic finance leader who wants to make a significant impact in healthcare and in the lives of New Brunswickers. As the ideal candidate, you are comfortable championing and leading critical change and bring a track record of major transformation initiatives related to financial management. You appreciate how Finance and other corporate services support and enable the critical clinical work of a hospital. A professional accounting designation with direct experience in the Finance function in large, multi-site or complex organizations, a minimum of ten years of progressive leadership/financial management experience and demonstrated ability to work effectively in partnership with senior leaders, boards, government officials and departments round out your qualifications. Exposure to the public sector is helpful, as is an understanding of or affinity with Maritime communities, culture and partnerships.
