Leaders and Leadership Development for Now and 2035
In the evolving context of healthcare across Canada and beyond, top organizations recognize the importance of developing and supporting leaders, as well as distributing leadership and integrating it system-wide.
Research suggests that achieving this enhances performance, motivation, job satisfaction, capacity, and retention at all levels. The latter is particularly critical amidst the most severe health human resources (HR) crisis of our careers. Additionally, in healthcare organizations across the country, upwards of 75% of positional leaders are new to their roles in the past 2 – 3 years, most of whom had no formal training to prepare them.
Although budgets are tight, investing in evidence-based leadership development and integration is essential to achieving organizational strategic priorities and to effectively engaging, retaining, and supporting leaders and staff.
HR, organizational development (OD), and learning and professional development (L/PD) specialists are uniquely positioned to propose priority areas for leadership development and integration and to share relevant insights, challenges, and effective strategies.
All HR/OD/LPD specialists are invited to join Dr. Jaason Geerts, Vice-President of Research and Leadership Development at the College, to engage with their colleagues nation-wide in an exclusive Think Tank entitled, “Leaders and Leadership Development for Now and 2035”.
The session takes place on Thursday, May 15th from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. (ET) and will involve a 4-minute pre-session survey, a 15-minute presentation by Dr. Geerts on current trends, research findings, and thought leadership related to leadership development and integration, followed by two rounds of participant small group discussions and full group debriefs regarding priorities and leading practices.
