Lona Cunningham
Lona Cunningham is a seasoned health care professional with more than two decades supporting health care delivery in the province of BC. Lona has trained as a social worker and than as a registered nurse. She has had numerous work experiences including working with HIV/AIDS, Palliative Care, and Surgery. After completing her UBC Master of Health Leadership program, Lona worked as a Senior Director with Provincial Health Services Authority's, BC Children's Hospital and then moved to be the Director of Acute Services at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) with Vancouver Coastal Health. In 2022 Lona became the Executive Director of Resident Doctors of BC (RDBC). RDBC is the trade union and professional association representing 1500 resident physicians in the province. Lona works closely with the RDBC Board to develop the organization’s plans, to govern and to manage initiatives including improving member dialogue and engagement and strengthening external relationships. She coordinates the collective bargaining process and ensures negotiated entitlements are protected. Throughout her career Lona has worked with diverse teams and partners. She remains focused on relationship building and the maintenance of professional, respectful, and productive interactions. She remains passionate about health care delivery in BC.
