Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is one of the largest, not-for-profit, senior care organizations in Canada with a reputation of providing excellent culturally appropriate elderly care services in the communities that they serve. Founded in 1987, the Yee Hong Centre provides and promotes culturally-appropriate care and services for seniors and their caregivers in the Greater Toronto Area, serving seniors of diverse cultural backgrounds living in every setting, to maintain health and independence as they age gracefully for as long as possible.
Yee Hong’s mission is to optimize physical, mental, social and spiritual drivers of well-being for the beloved seniors we serve. A full continuum of the highest quality, culturally appropriate and person-centred care is available across four campuses of care in Scarborough, Markham and Mississauga with our fifth long term care home scheduled to commence construction in late 2023. Yee Hong currently serves 805 long-term care residents, operates a 10-bed residential hospice, manages a Life Lease development and provides community-based and in-home services to over 14,000 clients and caregivers, offering a range of services including active seniors’ programs, home support services, adult day programs, meals and transportation, and many virtual programs including hospice/palliative care. Yee Hong is accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada and Yee Hong long-term care homes have been accredited eight times for the excellent quality care that we provide seniors consecutively since our doors opened.
Yee Hong and its partners have been awarded three new licenses to build an additional 800 long-term care beds. At the same time, Yee Hong continues to expand its at home and community-based services to meet increasing needs of seniors. The Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation is the primary fundraising arm for the Yee Hong Centre operating under the authority of a separate board of directors from the Yee Hong Centre.
Yee Hong is committed to building social impact and system capacity, sharing knowledge and leading practices to improve access to culturally inclusive and quality senior care. A trusted advisor to an array of stakeholders in the senior services and broader healthcare sector, Yee Hong’s Consulting, Education & Research Division and Personal Support Worker Career College supports long-term care homes, community agencies, hospitals, and organizations in Ontario, Canada and in Asia with expertise and resources to build, manage, and operate long-term care homes and provide care services to seniors.
