We are seeking an accomplished and innovative health leader for the role of Executive Director (ED), Community Health Services for the Edmonton Zone, population 1.4 million. In this role, you will work in a dyad partnership to lead and manage a varied and complex portfolio encompassing Edmonton Zone Public Health, Allied Health Community, Primary Care, Chronic Disease Management, SCOPE (colorectal cancer screening), a Family Care Clinic, and an Urgent Care Centre.

As the ED, you will oversee 785 employees, and be responsible for a budget of $110M. Description:
The Executive Director (ED), Community Health Services (CHS) brings an operations perspective and works in close dyad partnerships with the Associate Zone Medical Director, Public Health & Primary Care, and Associate Zone Medical Director – Primary Care, Continuing Care, Community Care and Suburban Hospitals, to manage the CHS portfolio, including service planning, implementation, and evaluation. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible and accountable for leading the effective oversight of CHS programs, services and activities within the Edmonton Zone.

You will contribute to the development of innovative approaches, policies, frameworks, and operational plans and strategies which support the service delivery model, operational goals, strategic goals, and philosophy of the Edmonton Zone and organization. As the ED, you will maintain awareness of external factors/trends, identify challenges and opportunities, and strategically position the portfolio accordingly.

This will entail building and sustaining effective communication and positive working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and community partners and agencies. You will also ensure information and receipt of feedback for the continuous improvement of high-quality, patient-focused clinical care for Albertans. The ED will ensure responsible stewardship of financial, human, capital and equipment resources, in accordance with the AHS policies and guidelines. You will allocate
resources (time, people, budgetary, etc.) and manage risks to meet program delivery and policy objectives, manage large contracts with external agencies, and identify and advocate for additional funding where needed. This includes providing justification for budget decisions and forecasts to staff, physicians, and Executive Leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a healthcare profession, healthcare management or business administration. 8-10 years’ leadership experience in healthcare, in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. At least 3 years experience in a senior healthcare leadership capacity. Wide breadth of health leadership experience. Community health background in the areas of Public Health, Community Allied Health, Primary Care, Chronic Disease Management, or Urgent Care.

Additional Required Qualifications:
A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrated ability to lead, engage others, develop coalitions, achieve results and bring about transformational change at a systems
level using the LEADS framework. A successful record of achievement as a leader, including extensive experience and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching with an ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability in leading major initiatives, fostering cultural change, and creating innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. An ability to manage resources in a complex environment. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, customer focused orientation and commitment to provide a quality service. Ability to foster cooperation amongst and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, boards, committees, and other partners.
