Executive Director
Lead a community organization with a mission to deliver quality, community-based services for people with addictions and concurrent disorders
Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre (PAARC) is a not-for-profit charitable agency funded by the Ministry of Health and fully accredited by the Canadian Centre of Accreditation. PAARC offers many different programs and services for people experiencing challenges related to their own or someone else’s substance use, gambling, gaming or other select behavioural dependencies and offers programs for individuals who are living with mental health challenges. PAARC is committed to offering quality services to a diverse population across the region and believes in and recognizes the uniqueness of everyone with their own experiences and strengths. PAARC’s person-centred approach considers all aspects of an individual’s life. PAARC has an annual budget of approximately $5M and a complement of approximately 60 dedicated staff and is supported by many volunteers and active participants from the community.
The current Executive Director (ED) is retiring after an accomplished tenure of eighteen years in the ED role and a total of nearly thirty years with the agency, and the Board is looking for an outstanding leader with a passion for serving individuals who are experiencing addictions, substance use, and concurrent disorder challenges, and who will inspire that same passion across the organization. This ED will work collaboratively with funders and community partners to provide services that meet an individual’s needs in an integrated and holistic manner. Reporting directly to an engaged Board of Directors and working closely with committed management and dedicated staff, the ED will be a visionary leader and strategic community partner committed to service excellence and social justice. The ED will be accountable for providing leadership and management in accordance with the PAARC’s vision, mission and values, and the strategic initiatives determined by the Board of Directors.
The ED will have five to seven years of relevant non-profit senior management experience. Experience of addictions management would be preferred, and experience with mental health and/or social services would be desirable. Experience in volunteer sector leadership would also be an asset. The ED will hold a graduate degree, Master’s level preferred, in health administration, health sciences, business administration, public administration or another relevant field, or a combination of equivalent education, job-related training, and experience. An extensive knowledge of working with government-funded programs and a proven track record of developing and securing funding strategies for a non-profit organization will be essential. Experience of working successfully with a Board of Directors and cultivating new and existing board member relationships is highly desirable as is a track record of community leadership in a culturally diverse and changing community environment.
