About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety and Special Advisor Benefits, the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety Services will work in collaboration with a team of Occupational Health professionals; internal leaders; and external partners to provide operational management and leadership, for the Occupational Health and Safety Services program at Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH).

As a registered nurse and drawing on the incumbent’s relevant experience developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive health and safety programs, the individual is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all QCH staff, patients, and visitors. This role involves the coordination of health and safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, risk management, and the promotion of a culture of safety across the hospital.

The OHSS Manager is accountable for promoting and maintaining a professional practice environment, fostering a culture of continuous performance improvement, participating in and leading initiatives, and managing implementation of the QCH vision, mission, values, and strategic plan at the program level. The Manager, Occupational Health and Safety Services will be an inspirational leader to a diverse team of Health & Safety professionals and oversees the operational delivery of QCH’s comprehensive occupational health and safety program. In doing so, the Manager works to ensure compliance to applicable occupational health standards, laws, regulations, and collective agreement provisions.

Experience

QCH is looking for an experienced leader who is knowledgeable in healthcare and has a proven track record of executing duties in line with the responsibilities of the Manager, OHSS role.  The successful incumbent should have the ability to connect and engage with multiple stakeholders, demonstrate effective communication and active listening skills, manage and deliver on concurrent and complex priorities and be a champion for maintaining occupational health standards. Their experience leading and developing a team, ideally of health and safety professionals, will be a key factor in the successful delivery of OHSS programs and support of a safe and healthy workforce.

Although the primary focus of the role is oriented toward managing comprehensive health and safety programs, additional responsibilities may be included within the managerial portfolio based on the requirements of the hospital and expertise of the successful incumbent.

Compensation

Scale: $62.29/hr minimum to $75.51/hr maximum
