CCHL Introduces Updated Code of Ethics

September 6, 2021

The Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) has issued an updated version of its Code of Ethics.

College members are expected to maintain high ethical standards in their personal and professional behavior and to act in accordance with the CCHL Code of Ethics. Ethics should be central to all decision making and in fulfilling social responsibilities.

The updated Code provides an overall standard of behaviour and includes specific standards to guide leaders in their personal and professional relationships and to act in accordance with College values.

A new Ethics Self-Evaluation tool is also available for personal use and to assist leaders in thinking about his or her own ethics-related leadership and actions.

The College’s Ethics Council had been tasked with the initiative to make the Code of Ethics simpler, streamlined and more accessible to a wider variety of individuals throughout the Healthcare System. With contemporized language and increased relevance for today’s context, the updated Code of Ethics was created with feedback from Board Members, Chapter Executives, and Master in Health Administration students.
