Preston Blair, Senior Account Executive / Commercial Relations, Johnson Controls Canada, has dedicated his career to improving the healthcare system and outcomes for patients for over 30 years. As a senior client executive and healthcare industry advisor, Preston is committed to introducing innovation and efficiency to the healthcare system, while also improving patient safety and satisfaction.
Starting his career in diagnostic imaging, Preston managed the Atlantic Canada branch of a Canadian X-ray company by providing radiology equipment and services to healthcare institutions in Atlantic Canada and later moved to Eastern Ontario to manage over 30 medical imaging clinics. As his career progressed, Preston worked in several health innovation industries, including medication packaging utilizing robotics and automated dispensing systems and IT software for business intelligence, finance and medication compliance in the United States and Canada. Preston has also worked in consulting with leading firms to provide electronic medical record solutions, financial reporting, quality improvement plan compliance and IT consulting expertise to hospitals and private practices in Ontario. “I feel very fortunate to have gained this broad exposure to health innovation across North America in my career and bring this expertise to my current role”. For the past twelve years, Preston has worked as the Senior Account Executive / Commercial Relations and healthcare leader with the Johnson Controls team in Canada.

Preston first chose his career path knowing he wanted to provide professional services to hospitals and health institutions. Preston considers the most rewarding part of his career is to enable health system change that leads to improved patient experiences and staff satisfaction. Working with health leaders, he provides them with the tools to make informed decisions, bring innovation to their organizations and positively impact health system performance.
This year, Johnson Controls Canada celebrates their 30th anniversary as a Corporate Member with the College. Johnson Controls Canada largely impacts hospital systems’ patient and staff comfort and safety, as well as health system financial performance. “Our work and messaging to CCHL health leaders is more relevant today than ever in terms of decarbonization, energy efficiency and capital funding alternatives.” Johnson Controls Canada benefits from National as well as local exposure to healthcare industries provided by the CCHL resources. Additionally, Johnson Controls Canada utilized CCHL’s Health Professionals’ Roundtable for Strategy (HPRS) Program to gain health industry feedback. “HPRS provided an opportunity for our team to obtain focused insight from health leaders on topics relevant to health system innovation in Canada.”
Preston has been involved with the College for close to 20 years, attending and sponsoring many local and national events, as well as previously contributing to the Eastern Ontario Chapter as a member of its Executive Committee. “As a long-standing corporate member, CCHL provides opportunities for meaningful engagement and thought leadership from Canada’s health leaders at the local and national level, as well ongoing avenues for personal professional development specific to health leadership.”
