Lynne Innes, CHE receives 2024 Premier’s Award

Congratulations to Lynne Innes, CHE and CEO of the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) for her recognition as a 2024 Premier’s Awards recipient, and trailblazer by Colleges Ontario.

Lynne is the first female and youngest Indigenous leader of a multi-site health authority in Ontario. She started her career as a nurse then went on to become a nurse practitioner after completing a master’s degree and continued excelling in leadership positions, becoming CEO at WAHA in 2019.

In addition, she holds leadership positions with several boards including vice-chair of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Health Task Force. As a leader who wants to improve access to care, enhance healthcare services and ensure First Nations people receive care close to home Lynne builds relationships with frontline staff, community and regional stakeholders and creates partnerships with the goal of WAHA becoming a centre of excellence in First Nations/Indigenous healthcare.

Lynne has been a member of the College and the NEON Lights Chapter for over 5 years, receiving her CHE certification in 2020.
