New Article Published in BMJ Leader: Evidence-based medical leadership development

November 19, 2020

Dr. Jaason Geerts, Director, Research and Leadership Development at the College, along with colleagues from the University of Oxford, the NHS, and the University of Oslo have published a systematic review of Evidence-based medical leadership development in BMJ Leader.

The team carried out the largest review of its kind to synthesise recent empirical evidence and explore factors associated with higher level outcomes in physician leadership development. Findings include that leadership development can contribute to outcomes at the individual, organizational, clinical, and financial levels, which can be achieved by focusing on the application of learning to work and through a combination of action learning, mentoring, coaching, and reflective exercises.
